Thank you for your interest in providing a foster home for Village for Paws Rescue. The rescue has requirements to ensure foster pets are in the best homes and receive proper care.
To foster an animal for Village for Paws Rescue, the following requirements apply. By completing and submitting the application, you agree to abide by the requirements:
1. You must be over the age of 21.
2. If you rent, your landlord’s consent and knowledge are required in writing, or a Rescue representative must speak to the landlord. You will be required to provide a copy of your lease that includes your landlord’s contact information.
3. You agree to foster the pet at your own risk and release all Village for Paws Rescue members from any liability arising from damages to property/people caused by said pet. You accept all responsibility for any events that may occur as a result of fostering the pet. Village for Paws Rescue is not liable for any injuries to people, other companions, or for any loss or damage to property. Please consult your renters or homeowner’s insurance policy to be sure you are covered for these possibilities. You will adhere to all local ordinances pertaining to the pet.
4. The foster pet will be kept inside the home, living conditions must be clean, and the foster pet must have fresh food and water daily.
5. You agree to protect your foster pet from any harm to the best of your ability.
6. The foster pet will be exercised appropriately. This does not include unsupervised, off-leash time outside a securely fenced yard. Dogs may not be tied up without direct supervision except for short periods of time.
7. All dogs/cats currently in the household must be up to date on vaccinations and be spayed/neutered.
8. You must not allow the foster pet to leave your possession without the approval of a Rescue representative.
9. You must take your foster pet to vet appointments made by the Rescue. Any unauthorized appointments will not be reimbursed. Emergency veterinarian care should be approved in advance by the Rescue if possible. If conditions do not provide for pre-approval, emergency care is at the discretion of the foster home. The foster home should contact the rescue as soon as possible after the emergency care to provide a report and expense amount.
10. You will administer monthly heartworm/flea prevention [provided by the Rescue] to foster pet.
11. You must notify a representative as soon as possible if there is something wrong with your foster or if you are unable to perform these duties properly. If the need arises to move the foster to another foster home, the foster is to be turned over to a VFPR representative.
12. You will keep in weekly contact with a rescue to report on the condition and status of the foster either by phone or e-mail.
13. The foster is to be adopted only into homes approved by the Rescue. Anyone who expresses interest in adopting must apply and go through the standard adoption procedures.
14. Foster homes are encouraged to participate with the Rescue representative in taking part in the adoption of the foster. No one knows the foster better than the foster parent and any input is greatly appreciated to ensure the correct placement of the foster.
15. If a foster home feels they might be interested in adopting the foster, they should notify a VFPR representative as soon as possible for consideration. There is no guarantee that the foster home will be approved for adopting the foster if another adopter has already been approved for the foster.
16. The foster is the property of VFPR and must be returned to the rescue if requested.
If you are interested in fostering for Village for Paws Rescue, please complete the remainder of the Foster Application. A rescue representative will be in touch soon!
