Information provided on this application form will be used for recruitment purposes and in the case of candidates selected for employment, for personal purposes. Please supply the names and contact details of two people who we may contact for references. One of these must be your current or most recent employer. For teaching/teaching support roles, if your current/most recent employment does/did not involve work with children, then your second referee should be from your employer with whom you most recently worked with children. For all other roles, two references are required, one being from your most recent employer. Neither referee should be a relative or someone known to you solely as a friend. If you have not previously been employed, then Head Teachers, College/University Lecturers, or other persons who are able to comment with authoritatively on your educational background and/or personal qualities, are acceptable referees. The school intends to take up references from shortlisted candidates before interview. The school reserves the right to take up references from any previous employer.

Section 3 - Criminal Record

An offer of employment is conditional upon Mount St Mary’s College/ Barlborough Hall School receiving a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). If you are successful in your application you will be required to complete a DBS disclosure application form. Any information disclosed will be handled in accordance with the Code of Practice published by the Disclosure and Barring Service. The School is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings including those which would normally be considered “spent” under the Act must be declared. The amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’ and are not subject to disclosure to employers , and cannot be taken into account. If you have a criminal record this will not automatically debar you from employment. Instead, each case will be assessed fairly.
