Harbor58 Mentor Application

One on One Mentoring Volunteer to make a difference in the life of a teen by helping them prepare for adulthood. Target Demographic: High School / College Age (especially those who are currently in foster care or who have aged out)

EXPECTATIONS:

Monthly Life Skills Classes: Mentors will help mentees with any breakout activities/help grasp concepts from the group life skills classes. (and possibly transport)  (instructors will provide the content/instructions). 

One on One Mentoring: Mentors will meet once a month within the community with their mentee to work through Life Skills Reimagined Curriculum as well as the Transitions Toolkit workbook. 

Building Rapport: On the "off weeks" you will connect with your mentee in the communication style they best respond in (text, email, social, etc). The goal is to check in on them and build trust. 

REQUIREMENTS:

Must complete a level 2 background check (including fingerprints).

Must complete the mentorship training 

Life Skills Classes are monthly on the third Thursday Evenings from 7pm-9pm at 5215 Lorraine Rd Bradenton, FL 34211 

Dinner is provided from 7-7:30pm with the class starting at 7:30pm. Mentors are asked to arrive by 6:30pm (unless transporting youth), and may need to stay as late as 9:30pm. While you are waiting to be matched we ask that you attend monthly life skills classes and social gatherings.
