COVID-19 Information

It is our mission to keep everyone safe and healthy! Online lessons will be used in place of inperson lessons if  there is a COVID-19 transmission risk to our music studio. Ex: Student or teacher exposure; warnings from  health authorities. If you would like to schedule in-person lessons, expect to be prepared with evidence of  vaccination or a recent negative test result. Please alert GoFun if you are exposed to COVID-19, test positive, or  develop symptoms. Once we are through the pandemic, students can choose in person or online based on your  convenience. Feel free to discuss with GoFun when the time comes.

Drop off & pick up

It is preferrable to have one or one particular group of student in the music studio with the teacher at a time.  Parents are encouraged to drop off and pick up students.

Arrival Time – Only applicable to in-person lessons.

Students who arrive early to lesson should wait at the lobby bench. We usually have multiple consecutive  students with no break in between. Please be respectful and keep the noise down while other students are  taking lessons.

Lesson Preparation – Only applicable to in-person lessons.

Students should come to lesson with their own music books and pencil. Students should wash or sanitize hands  before coming to lesson. Be mindful that long fingernails are not conductive to playing the violin or piano.  Thank you for loving our studio as your home! Please do not put pencil markings or hands on the wall, don’t  waste paper towels, make sure to flush the toilet, don’t put too much toilet paper in the toilet to prevent water  overflow, and do not bring snacks to lesson. If you must eat snacks, please eat in the sink area so that no food  will fall to the floor or other places. We try our best to clean the piano and floor every day to create a clean  space but we are not able to clean in between lessons.

Practice – Practicing at home is very important to ensure maximum benefit of the lesson. All students are encouraged to  practice daily. The amount of practice time may vary based on age, which can be discussed with us. Please  make every effort to set a regular practice schedule for you or your child. Regular, focused, and supervised  practice will result in more rewarding lessons and a greater musical experience.

Media Release:

AUTHORIZATION FOR MEDIA RELEASE: I understand that GoFun Learning and any grant funders may use  photographs and/or digital videos of my child for local publications, advertisings, or any other related  promotional medium. I waive the right to inspect or approve any photographs or digital video images before  they are published and any use to which they may be put. I have read the above and hereby give my consent.

Make-up Lessons

  • If a student can’t attend a lesson, notice must be given no later than 24 hours before the lesson. The earlier the  better, so we can try to accommodate/reschedule a makeup lesson. Makeup lesson schedule is dependent on  teacher’s availability. If absence notice is not given, or given later than 24 hours in advance of the lesson, then  the lesson will be charged, and no makeup lesson will be rescheduled. Make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled.
  • Advance notice is important for coordinating and rearranging the schedules of other students and parents. It  takes time for everyone to adjust their schedule, travel arrangements, etc.
  • Please arrive to lesson on time. Tardiness (arriving late to lesson) will not be accommodated with make-up time.

Illness

If the student is not up to lesson that day due to illness, a new assignment or notes can be sent through email  upon request. If a student has difficulty playing his or her instrument but is still able to attend lesson, we can  have an alternative lesson plan, such as music appreciation, musician theory, ear training or aural training  (rhythm, interval, chords, etc.).

Regular Schedule Change

If the student must change the regular lesson schedule, notice should be given 2 weeks in advance. Advance  notice is important for coordinating the schedules of other students, rehearsal schedule, and concert schedule.  We can help to coordinated schedule change but cannot guarantee whether other students can change or  switch. We will follow up once a new schedule becomes available.

Performances

Students are expected to participate in our two formal recitals each year: one in the winter and one in the spring  or early summer. There is a registration fee for renting a performance space or hiring digital engineer, and an  accompaniment fee upon request.

Discontinuing Lessons

If a student decides to discontinue lessons, notice should be given 2 weeks before the next season payment  period. Advance notice is important because the time slot is still reserved for that student and is unavailable to  other students.

Summer Travel

We have lessons year-round. The following options are available to students who plan to travel during the  summer and want to hold their regular weekly time slot:

  • Notice should be given 2 weeks in advance.
  • Make-up lessons can be scheduled to take place before or after travel.

Communication

Students and parents are always welcome to contact GoFun whenever they feel communication is needed.  Every student has a different learning style, and your input on your child’s learning abilities and progress will not  only improve learning efficiency but also enhance the enjoyment of the lesson time.
