Reopen Hammersmith Bridge

After nearly 5 years of waiting, the Government has still not released the funds to repair Hammersmith Bridge. The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham submitted its business case for the next phase of the works almost a full year ago, but the Department for Transport refuses to make a decision. Since 2019, the cost of the repairs has slowly risen from £120 million to £250 million due in part to inflation and the rising cost of construction. Had the Government kept its commitment to repair the bridge then, it is likely they would have saved the taxpayer tens of millions of pounds. We are calling on the Department for Transport to release the funds for the full repairs as soon as possible before the cost increases even further.
