San Juan Bible Camp Statement of Faith

  1. We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the verbal plenary word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.
  2. We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and is now at the right hand of the majesty on highas our high Priest and advocate.
  4. We believe that the present ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service.
  5. We believe that man was created in the image of God, sinned by choice, which resulted in spiritual death, that the sin of Adam is imputedto all men, Jesus Christ excepted, that man is totally depraved and incapable of attaining eternal life apart from faith in the completed workof Christ, and without such faith shall be eternally condemned to a state of conscious punishment.
  6. We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and his resurrection provide the only ground for salvation and justification for all whobelieve and only such as receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become eternally the children of God, and mayhave full assurance of their salvation.
  7. We believe in the personal imminent return of Christ for His Church and the physical resurrection of the saved and unsaved.
  8. We believe that God created mankind in His image: male (man) and female (woman), sexually different but with equal personal dignity. Therefore, one’s divinely determined biological sex should not be rejected. Consequently, we affirm each person’s biological birth sex.
  9. We believe marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, intrinsically ordered to procreation andbiological family, and in furtherance of the moral, spiritual, and public good of binding father, mother, and child.
  10. We believe that sexual intimacy should occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. Any form of sexual activityoutside of marriage is sinful and offensive to God.
  11. We believe that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and should seek redemption through confession, repentance, and faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect and dignity. Hateful and harassingbehavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture or the doctrines of the church. We teach that the faithful proclamation of the Scripture, including the call to repentance for all sin, does not constitute hate speech, or hateful or harassing behavior, but is instead a fundamental part of the church's loving mission to the world
  12. This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. We believe the Bible itself, is the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of San Juan Bible Camp, of religious organizations, and of humanity itself; and is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For San Juan Bible Camp, our Board of Directors serves as the final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application for SJBC’s statement of faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline. The Board of Directors hold to The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy as worded in Attachment A.

Please read carefully and initial each statement to indicate your agreement.

Please note: Any applicant who knowingly or willingly makes a false statement of any material fact or thing in the application is guilty of perjury in the second degree as defined in section 18-8-503, C.R.S., and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished accordingly.
