Bridge Play Foundation General Code of Conduct
The Bridge Play Foundation (“Bridge Play”) is committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants, including players, umpires, staff, team managers, volunteers, spectators, and coaches. By participating in any Bridge Play program or event, you agree to uphold this Code of Conduct and contribute to creating a positive and supportive community.
General PrinciplesRespect and Inclusion:
- Treat all individuals, including players, umpires, staff, spectators, and opponents, with respect, dignity, and fairness.
- Promote an inclusive and welcoming environment for all, regardless of race, gender, religion, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, or abilities.
- Refrain from engaging in or tolerating harassment, discrimination, or bullying.
Accountability and Leadership:
- Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism and sportsmanship at all times.
- Follow all league rules and policies, and ensure others in your role do the same.
- Take responsibility for your actions and address issues promptly and respectfully.
Sportsmanship and Integrity:
- Encourage fair play and uphold the spirit of the game.
- Avoid cheating, dishonesty, or manipulation of the rules.
- Support the efforts of umpires, coaches, and volunteers to maintain a fair and enjoyable experience for all.
Safety and Well-being:
- Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of all participants.
- Report any unsafe conditions, behaviors, or incidents to Bridge Play staff promptly.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines provided by Bridge Play Foundation.
Specific ExpectationsFor Players:
- Wear the required uniform (jerseys/t-shirts, baseball/softball pants, hats, or visors). Non-compliance may result in penalties.
- Respect teammates, opponents, umpires, and volunteers.
- Avoid engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct, such as arguing with officials or taunting others.
For Umpires and Staff:
- Carry out duties impartially, ensuring fair enforcement of league rules.
- Treat all participants with respect and address disputes professionally.
- Report concerns or violations to Bridge Play leadership as needed.
For Volunteers and Coaches:
- Provide positive encouragement and guidance to all participants.
- Ensure all players are given equal opportunities to develop and succeed.
- Model exemplary behavior and uphold the values of the Bridge Play Foundation.
For Spectators:
- Support players and teams with positive reinforcement and constructive encouragement.
- Avoid negative or disruptive behavior, such as heckling or arguing with officials.
- Respect the decisions of umpires and the efforts of volunteers.
Prohibited ConductThe following behaviors are strictly prohibited for all participants, including players, umpires, staff, and spectators:
- Physical or verbal abuse, intimidation, or threats.
- Use of offensive, discriminatory, or derogatory language.
- Possession, consumption, or influence of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco during Bridge Play events or programs.
- Possession, brandishing, or threatening use of a weapon of any kind (resulting in immediate ejection from the league).
- Cheating, dishonesty, or manipulation of the rules.
- Vandalism, theft, or intentional damage to property.
Consequences of ViolationsViolations of this Code of Conduct may result in the following consequences, depending on the severity of the behavior:
Uniform Policy Violations:
- Players not in proper uniform will begin their first at-bat with two strikes. Repeated violations may result in additional penalties, such as game forfeiture.
Smoking, Alcohol, or Drug Use:
- First Violation: Verbal or written warning, with possible suspension for the game.
- Second Violation: Suspension for multiple games.
- Third Violation: Permanent ejection from the league.
Weapons Violations:
- Immediate Consequence: Any individual in possession of, brandishing, or threatening use of a weapon will be permanently ejected from the league.
Other Violations (e.g., harassment, abuse, unsportsmanlike conduct):
- First Violation: Verbal or written warning.
- Second Violation: Temporary suspension for the individual or team.
- Third Violation: Permanent ejection from the league.
Team-Level Consequences:
- If violations by team members or spectators are not addressed, the entire team may face penalties, including game forfeiture or removal from the league.
Reporting ConcernsAll participants are encouraged to report violations of this Code of Conduct. Reports can be made to Bridge Play staff or volunteers during events or submitted confidentially via email at bridgeplayfoundation@gmail.com. All reports will be handled promptly and discreetly.
