Closing the Gap – Summer Education Program
Closing the Gap is a summer education program led by Director Cheryl Simmons, designed to help K-5 students maintain their academic progress, build confidence, and start the next school year strong. As Mrs. Simmons puts it, "It gives a child a chance to go from the top bottom half of his class and move up to the bottom of the top." This program provides structured learning in a supportive environment, ensuring students don’t fall behind during the summer months. Program Details Grades: K-5 Taught by: Licensed teachers with skilled paraprofessional support Subjects: Core academic areas to enhance learning and confidence Schedule Dates: June – Early July (exact dates announced yearly) Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 12 PM Enrollment & Updates Program announcements, registration details, and updates will be posted on Carver Community Center’s website and social media.
